About Me

I am Hassan Arab, and I’m a policy scholar and social worker with a passion for advancing justice through evidence-based research and community-led solutions. I study the intersection between policy design and lived experience—especially how systems of citizenship, identity, and governance shape the daily lives of individuals. With a foundation in both theory and practice, my academic work focuses on policy analysis, narrative frameworks, and structural inequities, with a special lens on monarchic and postcolonial contexts.

My journey began in Kuwait and took me through institutions like Wayne State University and Washington University in St. Louis, where I deepened my research in social policy, mental health, and marginalized communities. Alongside my academic work, I’ve remained grounded in clinical practice, serving as a therapist and social worker in spaces ranging from foster care to addiction recovery. These frontline experiences continue to inform my research with nuance, empathy, and a commitment to creating policies that actually work on the ground.

Outside of the classroom and research centers, I’ve worked in community development roles and served as an advisor and organizer in youth and student networks. Whether I’m presenting at conferences, writing about policy design, or counseling someone through a difficult time, my goal remains the same: to foster dignity, voice, and inclusion for all.
